films : at the deep end (to be released on 8th September, 2023)
From the deep sea where the light has never shined.
A dark fantasy music project formed by the instrumental band Anoice, featuring dark cinematic sounds with two female vocalists, who sing in their own originally created languages, Films, has finally created their new album 'at the deep end' which is also their first album in seven years.
As with the previous album, 'signs from the past’, which featured a beautiful tapestry made of Films' unconstrained high tone voices and the guest vocalist, Calu’s gentle warm voice, 'at the deep end' has a beautiful and ephemeral atmosphere. With this release, the sound of the album takes the listener on an even more breath taking and deeper journey, and it will encourage you all to appreciate the seven years wait. Continuing from the previous album, Yuki Murata who is the pianist admired by many musicians such as the late Ryuichi Sakamoto and Takeshi Kobayashi, composed all tracks, Anoice, a cinematic instrumental music group, played all the instruments, and Takahiro Kido who takes charge of music for many movies and commercial adverts, arranged and mixed all the tracks, and then mastered them.
This album 'at the deep end' contains beautiful and quiet songs such as 'blue in gray' and 'the deep sea' which were used as inserted song on the upcoming new movie 'Girls on Film' directed by Robin Bain in US, and also 'dispersion' premiered at the stage of ASIA BEAUTY EXPO 2022, one of the biggest beauty salon business events in Asia. In addition, there some masterpieces such as 'into the vervet storm' and 'ever changing' which are destructive dark fantasy songs that are Films' representative sound, and especially the lead single 'noctiluca' is one of the best emotional and ephemeral neoclassical/electronica songs.
This is unique masterpiece has an atmosphere that makes you feel you are immersed within the deep sea.
This album 'at the deep end' will be released on number-limited 15cm square-sized box version designed by MATSURICA, a project of the illustrator, Naoko Okada. It includes lovely illustrations and sticker together with a copy of CD.
